Sumler’s 34 lead Charleston Southern past Longwood 83-77

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A’lahn Sumler’s 34 points led Charleston Southern over Longwood 83-77 on Saturday.

Sumler also contributed five rebounds for the Buccaneers (8-14, 4-5 Big South Conference). Taje’ Kelly added 16 points while shooting 6 of 8 from the field and 4 for 7 from the line, and they also had five rebounds. Quentin Bolton Jr. shot 5 for 10 (2 for 4 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free throw line to finish with 16 points.

The Lancers (14-10, 2-7) were led in scoring by Walyn Napper, who finished with 21 points and four assists. Longwood also got 17 points and six rebounds from Michael Christmas. In addition, Elijah Tucker had 17 points.

Both teams next play Wednesday. Charleston Southern visits Winthrop and Longwoodplays South Carolina Upstate at home.
